Job summary

The laboratory team at UAB Hospital Emergency Department operates in a STAT environment where rapid, accurate results support immediate decisions for emergency and critical patients at Alabama’s first ACS-verified adult Level I Trauma Center.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Clinical Laboratory or related field required.
• Certified as MLS by ASCP or certified as MT by AMT required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) may be required or obtained within 30 days of employment.

Responsibilities

• Perform, interpret, check accuracy and report results on routine and complex laboratory procedures.
• Evaluate new instruments and methods, ensuring correct reagent preparation and quality control.
• May perform apheresis and/or bone marrow procedures and coordinate education, computer operations, quality control/quality assurance duties, and supervise within a section.

Education

Bachelor's degree in Clinical Laboratory or related field
