The Lead Medical Supply Technician (Sterile Processing) is part of the Nursing Service line at VA Boston Health Care System located in West Roxbury, MA. This full-time position involves travel to other VA Boston Healthcare System campuses as needed.
The Lead MST for Veterans Health Administration (VHA) interprets and follows policies and procedures of the SPS Service, performing duties within established guidelines and demonstrating effective work skills. The incumbent should possess broad knowledge of sterilization and decontamination techniques, microbiology, quality control, and instrument differentiation. Responsibilities include maintaining SPS standards, contributing to clinical mission fulfillment, and evaluating decontamination and sterilization processes throughout the medical center and CBOCs.

The Lead MST supports the SPS management team by distributing and prioritizing workloads, ensuring workflow compliance, supervising work quality, and instructing staff on policies and procedures.
Work is performed in various settings, requiring standing, walking, bending, lifting (up to 50 pounds), and dexterity for handling instrumentation. The environment may be hot, cold, drafty, or poorly lit, with potential for minor injuries from equipment.
