Job summary

The Lead Medical Support Assistant at the Minneapolis VA Health Care System provides clerical and administrative support, guiding scheduling clerks and Advanced Medical Support Assistants, and serves as the subject matter expert for related processes.

You will oversee workload, assign staff, and assess training needs across clinics to ensure timely appointments and smooth operations for veterans and care teams.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate Advanced MSA assignments and workflow in an interdisciplinary unit.
  • Perform daily workload assessments, assign work, and assure proper staffing coverage.
  • Evaluate training records and determine training needs of MSAs.
  • Assist the unit with complex procedures, including clinical flow processes for access to care across clinics.
  • Ensure accurate and timely scheduling of appointments.
  • Provide guidance to staff on policy changes and maintain employee schedules.
  • Act as liaison among Advanced MSA staff, patients and interdisciplinary staff to resolve day-to-day conflicts.
