Job summary

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in a biological or chemical science, defined by CLIA, upon hire.
• 1-3 years of work experience in a clinical laboratory setting, upon hire.
• Preferred certifications and licenses listed include professional credentials in medical laboratory fields.

Responsibilities

• Performs waived, moderately complex, and highly complex tests on patient specimens following SOPs to ensure accurate, timely reporting.
• Maintains major automated equipment through calibration, quality control, and troubleshooting; contacts vendors for repair as needed.
• Contributes to validation of new procedures and equipment; participates in continuing education and training of staff, trainees and coworkers.
• Maintains inventory and storage of supplies; resolves issues and ensures shift coverage.
• Represents the organization professionally to physicians, hospital staff, patients and the public; adheres to regulatory requirements.
• Oversees daily workflow, equipment startup, workload management, and staffing within the shift.
• Serves as primary contact for client inquiries and escalates unresolved issues to management.
