Job summary

Virginia Mason Franciscan Health is seeking a Medical Lab Scientist to perform complex laboratory tests across hematology, chemistry, microbiology, and other disciplines. You will ensure accurate results, operate and maintain instruments, and participate in quality control and regulatory compliance.

On assigned shifts, you may lead as Med Technologist Lead, ensuring adequate staffing and adherence to policies while coordinating with supervisors and clinical staff to support timely patient care.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a biological or chemical science as defined by CLIA.
• 1–3 years of work experience in a clinical laboratory setting.

Responsibilities

• Perform, analyze and report waived, moderately complex and highly complex tests on patient specimens.
• Maintain and calibrate major automated equipment and perform quality control procedures.
• Ensure regulatory compliance and accurate, timely reporting within established turn‑around times.
• Assist in validation of new procedures and equipment; participate in continuing education.
• Manage shift staffing and oversee lab operations in the absence of a supervisor.
• Communicate results and issues professionally with physicians, staff and stakeholders.

Education
