Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in a biological or chemical science as defined by CLIA.
• Preferred credentials include International Medical Laboratory Scientist and various CLS certifications such as Blood Banking, Chemistry - ASCP, and other standard clinical laboratory certificates.

Responsibilities

• Performs and reports waived, moderately complex, and highly complex test procedures on patient specimens adhering to SOPs to ensure accurate and timely reporting.
• Provides patient care through clinical correlation of results, rapid notification of caregivers of critical values, and testing within established turn-around times.
• Maintains major automated equipment through calibration, maintenance, and troubleshooting; contacts vendors for repair when needed.
• Performs calibration and quality control procedures and maintains records to ensure tests stay within parameters.
• Performs proficiency testing and reviews results with laboratory leaders.
• Assists in evaluation and validation of new procedures and equipment to provide current laboratory technology to physicians.
