Job summary

Mohawk Valley Health System Medical Group in Utica, NY seeks a Coding Supervisor to lead the coding team under the CDI & Coding Director. You will supervise staff, ensure procedures, provide training, and develop policies to improve quality and productivity.

Required AS in HIT with 5 years hospital coding; CPC/ CCS/ RHIT; preferred BS; 5 years supervisory and knowledge of ICD-10-CM/PCS, CPT, DRGs, APCs; encoders/groupers; strong communication and coordination skills.

Qualifications

• AS in Healthcare Information Technology with 5 years in hospital coding.
• Advanced knowledge of ICD-10-CM/PCS, CPT, Official coding guidelines, DRGs, APCs, and documentation.
• Familiar with encoders and groupers. Demonstrated ability to communicate, organize, and coordinate multiple priorities.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and establish competencies and workflows for coding staff.
• Ensure staff follows procedures, protocols, and processes.
• Provide training mechanisms and implement training modules.
• Develop, review and recommend updates and solutions for work action standards.
• Refer performance issues to senior management.
• Evaluate processes, update, and implement new policies and procedure documents.
• Perform other duties as required.
