Job summary

WellMed seeks a Lead Medical Assistant to perform expert MA duties, mentor staff, and drive clinic metrics and process improvements. You will support physicians and nursing staff, manage supplies, and ensure accurate documentation in the electronic health record.

The role emphasizes leadership, training, and a patient-centered approach, with 50% focus on clinic initiatives and a commitment to infection control and confidentiality.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or GED equivalent.
• Current BLS certification for healthcare providers (within 30 days of hire).
• 5+ years as a certified MA or 7 yrs certified/non-certified with at least 3 years certified.
• Proven ability to mentor and train others.
• Demonstrated leadership experience.
• Expert in computer literacy with electronic health record systems.
• Intermediate Excel skills.
• Knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT coding.

Responsibilities

• Performs duties at expert level within Medical Assistant scope of practice.
• Operates diagnostic equipment and performs basic wound care and specimen collection.
• 50% time devoted to clinic metrics/projects and workflow improvement.
• Coordinate with provider and care team; document patient care accurately.
• Mentor and train MA staff; serve as SME if needed.
• Maintain infection control and patient confidentiality; manage exam rooms and supplies.
