Job description

Millions of people live with Atrial Fibrillation (AFib), a chronic condition that is often debilitating and under-treated. Access to timely, specialized care from electrophysiologists (EPs) remains a persistent challenge in many communities. Current Clinic is pioneering a new model, establishing a network of specialized, EP-focused ambulatory surgery centers (ASCs) to expand capacity and bring life-changing treatment closer to home.

As a Lead Medical Assistant for our new office in Las Cruces, you will play an essential role in opening and supporting the clinic. You will be one of the first points of contact for patients and will assist with intake, clinical readiness, patient flow, and medical record accuracy. This position offers hands‑on clinical experience in a highly specialized cardiac setting, with meaningful opportunities for learning and professional growth.

What you will be doing
  • Support patient flow by checking patients in, notifying clinical staff of arrivals, and preparing patients for procedures.
  • Complete intake tasks including vital signs, updating medical histories, and other elements included in the clinic’s intake procedure.
  • Create a calm, comfortable, and professional environment for patients.
  • Prepare patients for procedures and subsequent recovery using appropriate equipment and transport safety precautions.
  • Perform housekeeping responsibilities for assigned procedure rooms between cases, ensuring cleanliness and readiness.
  • Complete daily or as‑needed housekeeping tasks (wet mopping, dusting, wiping down surfaces) in non‑procedural areas.
  • Maintain compliance with written and verbal patient information, data standards, and chart documentation guidelines.
  • Compile and process internal and external requests for medical records, including proper filing of such records.
  • Co ordinate completion and accuracy of all medical records in a timely manner.
  • Work with other departments to ensure they have the necessary data for processing clinical and operational tasks.
  • Monitor delinquency lists and provide required follow‑up or reporting.
  • Perform front desk duties, chart maintenance, and phone support.
  • Answer multiple phone lines promptly and professionally.
  • Support scheduling, patient communication, and coordination with clinical staff to optimize provider time.
  • Use EHR and other clinic systems to verify insurance, collect information, and support documentation.
  • Manage multiple tasks in a fast‑paced environment with strong prioritization skills.
  • Maintain business inventory by tracking supplies, coordinating equipment, and supporting maintenance requests.
  • Follow all facility policies and procedures, including confidentiality, safety, and compliance expectations.
What we’re looking for
  • Familiarity with EHR systems and comfort with general office and clinical technology.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and strong communication skills with patients and clinical teams.
  • High attention to detail with accuracy in clinical and clerical tasks.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across clinical and administrative teams while maintaining professionalism and discretion.
  • Commitment to confidentiality and compliance with all clinic and ASC policies.
  • At least one year of experience in a clinical office or ASC setting preferred.
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Current and active MA Certification.
  • Previous experience in healthcare administration, patient services, or ASC operations.
  • Bilingual Spanish/English communication skills (highly valued).
