Job summary

American Family Care (AFC) provides general medical care in outpatient clinics, with a focus on episodic treatment and walk-in services seven days a week. This role supports the clinic by interviewing and training Medical Assistant staff, obtaining patient vitals, and preparing patients for exams, under the direction of a licensed provider.

Ideal candidates hold an Associate degree in Medical Assisting and AMT/AAMA credentials are preferred.

Qualifications

  • Associates degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school.
  • AMT registered and AAMA Certified Medical Assistants are preferred.
  • Six months to one-year related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

  • Interview, hire and train Medical Assistant staff
  • Obtain patient vitals, history, and reason for visit; prep for physical exam
  • Explain prescribed procedures and treatments to patients
  • Ensure all ordered tests are performed accurately and timely
  • Administer prescribed medications and treatments per procedure
  • Draw blood and prepare labs for reference or in-house processing
  • Perform laboratory tests and quality controls
  • Coordinate oversight of laboratory with Lab Director/Medical Director
  • Perform all drug screening procedures per rules
  • Ensure immunizations documented and stored properly
  • Conduct physician referrals and service pre-certifications as needed
  • Prepare exam rooms; sterilize instruments and supplies
  • Maintain complete and accurate documentation
  • Other duties as assigned

Education

Associate degree in Medical Assisting (A.A.) or equivalent
AMT Registered (RMA) or AAMA Certified Medical Assistant preferred

Job Summary

Provides general medical care under the direction of a licensed provider to patients in an outpatient clinic setting.

  • Conduct physician referrals as well as service pre-certifications on an as-needed basis
  • Prepare exam rooms; sterilize instruments, equipment, and supplies for procedures
  • Maintain complete and accurate documentation
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned
