Hourly Compensation: $28.00/hour with a 6% pay differential for Spanish if eligible.

Ritter Center is recruiting a Lead Medical Assistant for our Clinic Department. This full-time, non-exempt position reports to the Clinic Manager and is based in San Rafael, CA; the role operates out of our Main Campus. Please find the full job description below.

Position Description:

The Lead Medical Assistant will provide administrative support to the Clinic Manager and Director of Clinical Compliance at Ritter Center’s Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC). This role will be a constant support to all Medical Assistants by providing on-going trainings, and ensuring the Medical Assistants are up to date on their skills. The Lead Medical Assistant has direct contact with patients and works closely with the front office staff. The Lead Medical Assistant reports to the Clinic Manager while taking clinical direction from the Nurse Practitioners.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Escort patients to the exam room, taking vitals, and prepping patients for the provider
  • Maintain exam rooms for providers
  • Assists with minimal in office procedures
  • Maintain inventory lists on a weekly basis for supply ordering
  • Operate electrocardiograph (EKG)
  • Give injections, perform venipuncture routine, and POS tests
  • Clean, sterilize and disinfect medical equipment and instruments in accordance with clinical policies and OSHA guidelines
  • Follow policy and procedures including universal precautions as defined by OSHA’s guidelines on Bloodborne Pathogens and Hazardous Materials standards.
  • Practice good people skills to maintain good public relations with patients and with fellow co-workers
  • Maintain patient confidentiality in accordance to Ritter’s policy and HIPPA guidelines. Attend and participate in required meetings, training and educational programs
  • Assist Clinic Manager with monthly reports and assuring accurate data entry is being conducted in real time.
  • Work with Director of Clinical Compliance on executing Quality Improvement measures and ensuring support staff are following through
  • Educate patients on resources
  • Assist referral coordinator with scheduling rides and ensuring that patients make it to their specialty appointments.
  • Preparing charts ahead of time for providers so accurate information is available at the time of patient visits.
  • Provide direct support to the Clinic Manager to ensure that day to day operations are executed by supporting all other MA’s and support staff.

Qualifications:

  • Per OSHA requirements employment at Ritter Center requires compliance with being able to produce a negative TB test prior to the start of employment, as well as being fully vaccinated against COVID-19 (unless applying for an exemption) per the August 5th State Public Order for Healthcare Facilities, providers, and employees.
  • Per the Marin County Department of Health and Human Services, Ritter Center requires employees to receive the Influenza vaccine (unless applying for a qualified medical or religious exemption) Must have a valid Medical Assistant certificate from an accredited Medical Assistant Educational program
  • High School Diploma or GED completion required
  • Must have current CPR certification
  • Minimum of 7 years of work experience preferred but will consider Less experience if you have a strong knowledge of public health services.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred
  • Prior experience working in community health-care clinic environment a plus
  • Ability to follow instructions and meet deadlines
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Must possess strong interpersonal skills
  • Must have ability to multitask in fast paced health-care clinic environment
  • Must be able to communicate effectively in English, verbally and written
