Anduril Industries seeks a Principal Mechatronics Engineer for the Space Special Programs team in Chantilly, VA. You will work on core spacecraft technologies and subsystems, including optical systems, batteries, mechanisms, control systems, and sensors, while guiding development roadmaps and mentoring engineers.

The role emphasizes hands-on design, leadership, and collaboration across disciplines, with opportunities for career growth and high-impact space programs in a fast-moving environment.

Qualifications

• 20+ years of mechanical and mechanism design experience.
• 10+ years designing systems for spacecraft and associated space systems.
• BS, MS or PhD in engineering, or equivalent work experience.
• Must be a U.S. Citizen and able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Top Secret security clearance.
• Experience with 3-D CAD.
• Strong leadership and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Execute rapid evaluation of engineering concepts across a wide range of fields.
• Design, analyze, implement, and test complex electro-mechanical systems.
• Maintain high level system ownership with substantial autonomy.
• Mentor engineers and help grow the team in spacecraft design and testing.
• Travel to test sites and support hardware demonstrations with customers.
