Job summary

BNSF Railway is hiring an Experienced First Line Supervisor - Mechanical to manage daily mechanical operations across locomotives and railcars, ensuring safety and efficiency. You will mentor staff, drive performance, and maintain compliance in a high‑volume, 24/7 setting.

The role requires leadership in a union environment, a strong mechanical background, and willingness to relocate after a structured training period.

Qualifications

• Legally authorized to work in the United States and at least 18 years old.
• Valid Driver's License or will have one upon hire.
• Must be able to visually distinguish colors (red, blue, green, yellow) and see at night.
• Capable of working in a 24/7 environment including nights, weekends, holidays.
• Willing to relocate anywhere on the BNSF OS (western 28 states) upon hire.
• High school diploma or GED required; 3+ years supervisory experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Supervise inspection, maintenance and repair of railcars and locomotives safely and efficiently.
• Oversee mechanical shop employees in a union environment.
• Assign and coordinate daily schedules for personnel.
• Ensure labor and equipment meet daily plan requirements.
• Foster cross-functional collaboration to drive efficiency and improvement.
• Adhere to all safety, union, and FRA regulations.
