Job summary

Olgoonik is seeking a Senior Project Mechanical Engineer to join our Oneida, NY team. The role leads design, coordination, and administration of complex mechanical and HVAC systems for major new construction, renovations, and upgrades.

You will mentor junior staff, oversee project scope, budgets, and schedules while ensuring compliance with NY Codes and client requirements. The position is based in Oneida with potential fieldwork and travel.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of mechanical engineering experience with building systems for government, industrial, and commercial facilities.
• Expertise in MEPF engineering including HVAC load calculations, air handling units, boiler systems, and digital controls.
• Experience managing large, multi-disciplinary projects from conception to completion.
• Experience with construction administration including punch lists, contractor coordination, and permitting.
• Deep knowledge of building codes and standards (NYS Energy Code, NYS Mechanical Code, NFPA).

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of high-performance HVAC, mechanical, plumbing, and fire protection systems, including sustainable and renewable energy solutions.
• Conduct field inspections and system assessments.
• Develop and approve detailed engineering drawings, schematics, and technical specifications, ensuring compliance with codes and client requirements.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to define project scope, budgets, and schedules.
• Oversee resolution of complex technical challenges during project execution.
• Provide construction administration services, including reviewing submittals and RFI responses.
• Serve as a primary client contact and maintain strong relationships.
• Lead project risk assessments, resource allocation, and quality assurance activities.
• Contribute to business development through proposals and project scoping.
