Job summary

Olgoonik Corporation in Bohemia, NY is seeking an experienced mechanical/electrical design engineer to lead detailed design of HVAC, plumbing, electrical and low-voltage systems for commercial and institutional buildings.

You will perform field inspections to gather conditions, work with clients and project stakeholders to determine requirements, and provide construction administration support.

A Bachelor's in ME or EE and 5+ years in a consulting environment are required; PE licensure is a plus.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of broad-based design experience in a consulting environment.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering.
• Demonstrated ability as a problem solver.

Responsibilities

• Design detailed HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and low-voltage systems in commercial/institutional buildings.
• Perform field inspections to obtain condition take-offs for design and detailing.
• Coordinate with clients and stakeholders to determine and coordinate system requirements.
• Provide construction administration services – submittal and shop drawing reviews, RFIs, and schedule coordination.

Overview

FPM Group, a multi-disciplined engineering, architecture, and environmental science consulting firm established in 1968, has an exciting opportunity in our Bohemia, NY and Oneida, NY offices.

Primary Responsibilities

• Responsible for the detailed design of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and/or low-voltage electrical systems in commercial and institutional buildings
• Perform field inspections of existing buildings to obtain existing condition take-offs needed for design and detailing work
• Work with clients and other project stakeholders to determine and coordinate overall system requirements
• Construction administration services – submittal and shop drawing reviews, review and respond to RFI, schedule coordination, etc.

Supervisory Responsibilities

• Supervisory responsibilities are not anticipated.

Education And/or Experience

• Minimum of 5 years of broad-based design experience as an engineer within a consulting environment
• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering
• Demonstrated ability as a problem solver

Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

• Strong AutoCAD skills
• Competency with MS Office Suite programs (Word, Excel, Project, PowerPoint, Teams, etc.)
• Experience with online project management platforms such as BlueBeam, ProCore, and SubmittalExchange
• Direct experience in systems installation or with a contractor is a plus
• Professional Engineer licensure is a plus
