Job summary

Vertical Mechanical Group is seeking an experienced Mechanical Foreman to lead field crews on commercial projects in the Blacksburg, VA area. You will oversee HVAC, plumbing, and piping installations, assign tasks, and ensure safe, high‑quality work while keeping projects moving.

Strong leadership and OSHA‑aware practices are essential for success. Applicants should have 5+ years in commercial mechanical construction, read drawings, and coordinate with Superintendents and other trades.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of commercial mechanical construction experience
• Ability to lead field crews (Foreman/Lead Mechanic or similar)
• Strong knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, piping, or mechanical systems
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specs
• Experience coordinating manpower and tracking productivity

Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise mechanical crews on commercial projects
• Assign daily work and communicate goals to field staff
• Plan manpower, materials, tools, and equipment to maintain productivity
• Coordinate activities with Superintendent and other trades
• Review upcoming work to avoid conflicts and delays
• Participate in daily coordination meetings and short‑term planning
• Support production and project goals in field
• Provide day‑to‑day leadership and mentor crew members
