Job summary

Vertical Mechanical Group is seeking an experienced Commercial Plumbing Foreman to lead plumbing crews on large commercial projects in Blacksburg, VA and surrounding areas. This hands-on role directs daily field activities, coordinates manpower and materials, enforces safety, and ensures installations meet plans and codes.

Ideal candidates have strong field leadership, excellent communication, and deep knowledge of domestic water, sanitary, storm, and specialty piping.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of commercial plumbing or piping experience.
• Minimum 2 years of experience leading crews or working in a foreman capacity.
• Strong knowledge of commercial plumbing systems and installation practices.
• Experience with domestic water, sanitary, storm, and specialty piping systems.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and technical documents.
• Experience managing manpower, productivity, and project schedules.
• Strong leadership, communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
• Familiarity with construction software (Microsoft Office, Outlook, Procore, Smartsheet, AutoCAD) preferred.
• OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification preferred.
• Bilingual English and Spanish skills preferred.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate daily plumbing crew work (2–7 employees).
• Assign work, communicate expectations, and monitor productivity.
• Lead installation of commercial plumbing systems (domestic water, sanitary, storm, specialty piping).
• Provide hands-on technical guidance to mechanics and helpers.
• Train and develop employees while promoting accountability and teamwork.
• Maintain clear communication with project staff, clients, and field partners.
