Job summary

General Motors seeks a Mechanical Design Engineer to lead in-house mechanical design and CAD development for next-generation display systems in Software Defined Vehicles. You will own architecture for displays, PCBs, connectors, and mounting while collaborating with engineering, design, manufacturing, CAE, and suppliers.

This role focuses on solving complex integration challenges, influencing programs from concept to production, and advancing virtual vehicle integration practices.

Qualifications

• BS in Mechanical Engineering or related technical field with 3+ years of design experience, OR 10+ years of experience in lieu of a degree.
• Experience using GM engineering tools (NX, Teamcenter, Vis Mockup) and CAD release/data mgmt systems.
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes (injection molding, stamping, machining, extrusion).
• Strong collaboration across cross-functional teams and suppliers.
• Ability to solve complex design challenges independently while aligning teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical design and CAD development for display systems and electronics integration.
• Develop packaging concepts, virtual layouts, and design solutions meeting requirements.
• Maintain CAD models and release data using GM tools.
• Drive display integration across phases of the Global Vehicle Development Process.
• Conduct packaging studies, tolerance reviews, and design evaluations.
