Job summary

McKinstry seeks a Lead Mechanical Engineer to join the Design and Engineering team in Seattle. You will lead mechanical system design, coordinate across stakeholders, and own project deliverables.

Responsibilities include team management, project coordination, and client relations, with a focus on design excellence and scope management. Professional Engineer licensure is required; LEED preferred.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering required.
  • 8+ years of engineering design experience preferred.
  • Onsite construction experience welcomed.
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Office & MS Teams required.
  • Knowledge of Revit and Bluebeam required.
  • Load calculation experience via IES VE, Carrier HAP, Trane Trace, Elite CHVAC or equivalent.
  • Energy modeling experience preferred.
  • Professional Engineer registration required.
  • LEED accreditation preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Delegate design tasks and manage project deliverables.
  • Coordinate with internal design and construction teams.
  • Identify resource needs and meet deadlines.
  • Mentor project engineers and foster a collaborative team.
  • Document project communications, issues, and decisions.
  • Develop and promote standardized design tools.
  • Manage workload to deliver projects on time and within budget.
  • Provide engineering analysis to support sales and early design.
  • Define scope and design intent; communicate changes to supervisor.
  • Attend design meetings with customers and external stakeholders.
  • Identify opportunities for process and technology improvements.
