Job summary

QinetiQ US is seeking a Principal Mechanical Engineer to lead the design, development, analysis, and maintenance of rugged military and commercial hardware at our Franklin, MA facility.

In this technical lead role you will perform FEM analyses with ANSYS Workbench, ensure manufacturability, create detailed designs and drawings, interface with customers and vendors, and guide a design team of up to six engineers. Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance if required.

Qualifications

• 10–20 years in mechanical design.
• Direct project engineering or technical lead experience.
• Experience with finite element analysis (FEA).
• Design of maritime systems and hardware.
• Design of robotic systems and hardware.

Responsibilities

• Electromechanical design, layout, modeling, and production support.
• Perform FEM analyses to study vibration, shock, fluids, and thermal responses.
• Implement design for manufacturability (DFM).
• Create/update detailed designs and fabrication drawings.
• Interface with customers and vendors on engineering matters.
• Write design specs, reports, and proposals.
• Present technical internal and customer presentations.
• Lead tolerance analysis and approve designs.
