Job summary

Barry-Wehmiller Companies Inc. seeks a Mechanical Engineering Team Leader to guide a multidisciplinary engineering group in Green Bay, WI.

You will report to the Director of US Mechanical Engineering and lead projects for sold work, sustaining engineering, or NPD, coordinating with a diverse team of mechanical, electrical, software, and systems engineers. You will drive technical excellence, manage end-to-end product development, and ensure timely, on-budget delivery while promoting modular

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering.
• 5+ years progressive mechanical engineering experience and 3+ years in people-focused leadership roles.
• Experience with Operations, Software/Electrical Engineering teams, and Service departments.
• Experience with Flexo or CI equipment.
• Knowledge of safety and other applicable country-based standards (CE, UL, CSA, etc.).
• Skilled in CAD (preferably SolidWorks), ERP systems, and proficient in Microsoft 365+ and PCs.
• Entrepreneurial thinker, solution-oriented, biased for action, strong communication.
• Willingness to travel internationally to customer/manufacturing sites as needed.
• Fluent in English and German, spoken and written preferred

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a mechanical engineering team with direction from NPD, Sustaining, and Sold Work leaders.
• Coordinate, plan, and distribute team resources per priorities.
• Ensure engineers’ professional development and succession planning.
• Maintain skills redundancy and robust succession for the team.
• Act as ambassador of collaboration, innovation, and accountability across engineering.
• Promote modular development, DFM, and standard parts catalog usage.
• Identify technological trends and recruit new skills as needed.
• Collaborate with leadership to define team and individual goals; recognize achievements.
• Lead design and development of products with product management coordination.
• Manage end-to-end projects from concept to prototype to ready-to-use products via BW stage-gate.
• Ensure projects are on time and on budget; document processes for manuals and catalogs.
• Utilize new tools, processes, and AI to support development.
