Job summary

SAIC is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer in Middletown, RI to support the modernization and development of torpedo test equipment hardware and related production activities. This role emphasizes leadership, cross‑functional collaboration, and hands‑on execution when needed.

The successful candidate will manage projects from concept to post‑test analysis, develop TDPs/AOAs, and communicate progress with customers, engineers, logisticians, and technicians, while maintaining schedule and budget.

Qualifications

• B.S. in Mechanical Engineering with 5+ years experience or an M.S. with 3+ years experience.
• Ability to obtain and maintain SECRET level clearance.
• Experience leading multiple projects to completion.
• Ability to interact with customers at Newport Naval research center and external sites.

Responsibilities

• Lead multiple high-profile projects interfacing with customers to define key test requirements and document outcomes.
• Hands-on involvement as needed and willingness to learn new things.
• Lead projects from concept to post-test analysis/ facility approval for electrical and mechanical systems.
• Prepare design packages, AOAs, TDPs, presentations, and test results.
• Maintain clear communication to ensure on-time and on-budget progress.
• Interface with customers at Naval research center in Newport and other sites.
