Job summary

County of Maui seeks a Mechanical Engineer V to supervise and participate in the design, installation, operation and maintenance of mechanical systems and equipment for County facilities. This role reviews plans, ensures code compliance, and provides technical guidance on complex projects.

Qualifications

• A bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering and one year of registered professional mechanical engineering experience or an equivalent combination.
• Possession of Hawaii registration as a professional mechanical engineer.
• Knowledge of mechanical engineering principles, dynamics, hydraulics, and related codes and practices.
• Ability to interpret plans, specifications, and apply guidelines; supervise subordinates.

Responsibilities

• Plan, direct, supervise, and coordinate installation, maintenance, overhaul and repair of County plant facilities and operations including treatment plants and pump stations.
• Review and approve plans and specifications for mechanical systems ensuring compliance with codes.
• Supervise testing and acceptance of new facilities and equipment; monitor maintenance programs.
