Job summary

Bio-Techne in San Jose seeks a Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead the development and support of its analytical instruments portfolio. You will report to the Mechanical Engineering Hardware Manager and collaborate with scientists and engineers across disciplines.

The role covers concept feasibility, new product development, manufacturing support, and product introductions, with emphasis on design for manufacturability and IP generation. A strong team culture and work-life balance are valued.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering with five to seven years of industry experience or Master's with three to five years of experience.
• Experience developing mechanisms and products meeting early prototype and commercial requirements.
• Strong system-level thinking and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop analytical instruments and accessories.
• Deliver best-in-class products through cross-functional collaboration with scientists and engineers.
• Iterate on prototypes to meet product requirements and regulatory standards.
• Ensure feasibility, reliability, and manufacturability of designs.
• Create engineering docs, 3D models, 2D drawings, BOMs, and protocols/reports.
• Support transition to manufacturing including equipment and processes.
