Job summary

Sargent & Lundy is seeking a Mechanical Designer to develop mechanical layout drawings in a 3D model under the guidance of the Mechanical Project Lead. You'll work with multi-disciplinary teams to design systems and resolve mechanical issues throughout the project lifecycle.

The role emphasizes 3D plant layout proficiency, coordination of detailed design phases, and mentorship of junior designers, with field walkdowns possible at client facilities.

Qualifications

• Associate's Degree in drafting or 1+ year drafting coursework/experience
• Ten+ years of detailed physical design in mechanical general arrangements, piping, and supports
• Proficiency with 3D plant layout modeling software/tools
• Experience reviewing mechanical equipment interfaces and developing deliverables
• Ability to interface with multi-disciplinary engineering and design teams in power plant projects

Responsibilities

• Develop mechanical layout drawings in a 3D model under the Mechanical Project Lead
• Design mechanical systems and troubleshoot design issues
• Use 3D modeling software to generate schematics
• Lead coordination of detailed design phases for an integrated mechanical model
• Coordinate with designers and project members to ensure complete, timely design
• Plan and deliver general arrangements, piping isometrics, piping composites, pipe supports, and equipment locations
• Opportunity to conduct field walkdowns at client facilities
• Mentor less experienced drafters and designers
