Job summary

Novozen Healthcare LLC is seeking an experienced Mechanical Project Engineer to lead capital projects from design through startup at our Richmond, VA facility. This role requires strong 7+ year background in regulated environments and deep knowledge of HVAC, utilities, and piping systems.

You will develop URS and design basis documents, review designs, and coordinate with consultants, contractors, and cross-functional teams to ensure on-time delivery, budget adherence, and GMP compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering or related field.
• 7+ years of experience in regulated manufacturing environments.
• Experience managing capital projects from design through construction, commissioning, and qualification.
• Strong knowledge of HVAC, clean utilities, plant utilities, process piping, and mechanical systems.
• Experience with URS, engineering specifications, equipment startup, commissioning, and GMP compliance.
• Proven project management skills including contractor coordination, budgeting, scheduling, and risk management.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Visio).
• Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work onsite in Richmond, VA, five days per week.
• PE license and PMP certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical capital projects from design through construction, commissioning, qualification, and startup.
• Develop URS, design basis documents, and technical specifications.
• Review engineering designs for HVAC, clean utilities, plant utilities, process piping, and mechanical systems.
• Coordinate engineering consultants, contractors, vendors, and cross-functional teams.
• Oversee equipment installation, commissioning, startup, and system turnover.
• Manage project scope, budgets, schedules, risks, and change orders.
• Troubleshoot mechanical and utility systems and coordinate shutdowns and tie-ins.
• Ensure GMP compliance, safety, and regulatory requirements.
• Support procurement, contractor selection, and project status reporting.
