Job summary

Aerotek in Minnesota is seeking a Lead Mechanical Assembler to supervise a small team in a fast-paced production environment focused on architectural aluminum systems. You will assemble components, read blueprints, and ensure safety and on-time delivery.

Starting on second shift, you prep materials for the morning shift and may transition to first shift based on performance. You will lead 5+ assemblers, uphold quality, and support lean manufacturing efforts.

Qualifications

• 1 year of experience as a mechanical assembler in a production or similar environment.
• 1–2 years of leadership experience overseeing a team of 5+ people, preferably in a production environment.
• Proficiency with hand tools and power tools, with at least 1 year of hands-on experience.
• Ability to read and accurately use a tape measure; willing to pass a tape measure test.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and assembly instructions.
• Mechanical assembly experience in a fast-paced production setting.
• Strong reliability, including consistent attendance and punctuality.
• Coachability and openness to feedback with a willingness to learn and improve.
• Positive attitude and strong teamwork skills, with the ability to lead by example.
• Capability to perform general labor and assembly line tasks as required.

Responsibilities

• Assemble aluminum components and systems used in architectural applications such as balconies, railing systems, and custom aluminum solutions.
• Lead and oversee a team of 5+ assemblers on second shift, providing direction and guidance to meet production goals.
• Prepare materials and production supplies for the morning shift for efficient start-of-day operations.
• Use hand tools, power tools, and measuring tools to perform mechanical assembly tasks per specifications and blueprints.
• Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and assembly instructions for accurate builds.
• Measure components accurately using a tape measure and verify dimensions to tolerances.
• Troubleshoot issues during assembly, identify root causes, and adjust processes to maintain quality and workflow.
• Assist with general labor and assembly line tasks to support production output.
• Apply knowledge of quality inspection processes to verify products meet standards.
• Support lean manufacturing practices to improve efficiency and reduce waste.
• Collaborate with first shift teams and occasionally work first shift to support demand.
• Maintain a clean, safe work area and follow safety procedures.
