Lead Mechanic / Service Technician – Field & Shop | $30–$40+/hr. | Tampa, FL

Employbridge is actively seeking a highly experienced Lead Mechanic / Service Technician to join our elite technical team in Tampa, FL. This full-time opportunity is ideal for a professional with 5–10 years of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic expertise, especially in marine transmission systems and field service. About the Role

As a Lead Mechanic / Service Technician, you will play a key role in equipment repair, diagnostics, and installation in both shop and field environments. This position requires travel throughout Florida, Georgia, and South Carolina, supporting a diverse range of customer needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform failure analysis, diagnostics, and repair on equipment including marine transmissions and diesel engines
  • Troubleshoot and install electrical controls, water jets, and electronic systems
  • Deliver, install, service, and repair equipment both on-site and in the field
  • Assemble, disassemble, and assist in custom equipment build-outs
  • Conduct mechanical fabrication and welding as required
  • Maintain accurate records, including parts lists and orders
  • Provide support to inside sales and customer service teams as needed
  • Adhere to all company safety and housekeeping standards
  • Participate in an on-call rotation (every other week)
Ideal Candidate Profile
  • 5–10 years of hands-on mechanical repair experience (marine, diesel, or industrial equipment)
  • Experience with rebuilding and reinstalling transmissions (Twin Disc/marine experience highly valued)
  • Proven reliability and strong job tenure
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and stay focused without distractions
  • Valid, clean driver’s license and reliable transportation
  • Comfortable with regular field travel and on-call duties
Required Skills & Competencies
  • Expertise in mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems
  • Welding and fabrication experience
  • Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting ability
  • Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals
  • Proficiency with tools, instrumentation, and repair processes
  • Decision-making and customer-facing communication skills
  • Adaptability to shifting service demands and working conditions
Education & Certifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent (required)
  • Technical School graduate or equivalent experience
  • Certifications in relevant repair processes are a plus
Job Details
  • Shift: 1st Shift | 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM
  • Type: Full-Time
  • Travel: Required (FL, GA, SC)
  • Pay Range: $30.00 – $40.00+ per hour (based on experience)
  • On-Call: Yes (24/7 availability during rotation)
  • Work Environment: Combination of shop and fieldwork; appropriate PPE required and provided
