Job summary

DNREC Shoreline and Waterway Management Section seeks a Master mechanic to diagnose, repair, and maintain a diverse fleet of construction, marine, and all-terrain equipment. You will troubleshoot complex systems, overhaul engines, and perform preventative maintenance to ensure operational readiness.

You will interpret schematics, weld, fabricate parts, and support field operations in demanding environments while adhering to EPA standards and safety protocols.

Qualifications

  • Three years' experience diagnosing, repairing, rebuilding and calibrating engines and power trains.
  • Three years' experience in gas and electric welding.
  • Three years' experience in machining parts to spec.
  • Knowledge of staff supervision through lead work roles or supervising others.
  • Possession of a valid Driver’s License (CDL A preferred).

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive maintenance: lubricate, service, inspect and test equipment.
  • Use diagnostic equipment to evaluate and troubleshoot malfunctions.
  • Repair/replace parts and assemblies with appropriate tools.
  • Interpret schematics and wiring for mechanical, hydraulic, ignition and electrical systems.
  • Operate systems to research parts, order items and document malfunctions.
  • Fabricate parts and perform gas/electric welding and body repairs.
  • Respond to road service requests and assist tow operations.
  • Conduct road tests to verify repairs and functionality.
  • Maintain cleanliness of tools and shop facilities.
  • Follow safety rules and EPA standards in duties.
