Job summary

State-of-Delawar, DNREC Shoreline and Waterway Management Section, seeks a Master Mechanic to diagnose, repair, and maintain a diverse fleet of construction, marine, and all-terrain equipment. You will troubleshoot, overhaul engines, and perform preventative maintenance to ensure operational readiness in demanding environments.

This role requires three years' experience in engines, welding, and machining, plus supervisory capabilities and a valid CDL.

Qualifications

  • Three years' experience diagnosing, repairing, rebuilding and calibrating engines and related equipment.
  • Three years' experience in gas and electric welding.
  • Three years' experience in machining or milling parts to meet manufacturer specs.
  • Knowledge of staff supervision through training or leading others; Supervisory experience preferred.
  • Valid Driver’s License (not suspended, revoked or cancelled).

Responsibilities

  • Performs preventive maintenance: lubricating, cleaning, servicing, inspecting, and testing equipment.
  • Uses diagnostic equipment to evaluate, troubleshoot, and diagnose malfunctions.
  • Repairs/replaces parts and assemblies with hand and power tools.
  • Interprets schematics and blueprints for inspections and maintenance of systems.
  • Operates systems to research parts, order replacements, and document failures.
  • Fabricates parts and performs gas/electric welding and body repairs.
  • Responds to road service requests and assists with tow operations.
  • Conducts road tests/operational checks to verify repairs.
