Job summary

Priority Waste Resources is seeking a Shop Lead in Romulus, MI to perform repairs and maintenance on refuse vehicles and heavy machinery. The role involves engine work, electrical repairs, VINs, and preventative maintenance to minimize downtime.

Ideal candidates have two years of heavy-duty tech experience, with a preference for ASE certifications and a CDL. The position requires readiness to support DOT inspections and safe road service calls.

Qualifications

• Minimum two years experience as a heavy-duty technician.
• Commercial Driver's License is a plus but not required.
• Experience with maintenance on refuse trucks and heavy machinery.
• ASE certifications are a plus but not required.
• Must be able to perform basic inspections: brakes, drivetrain, emissions, hydraulics, transmissions, engine, steering and suspension.

Responsibilities

• Keeps up on maintenance of vehicles and equipment.
• Performs engine repair and maintenance.
• Performs welding and fabrication.
• Scans trucks and troubleshoots mechanical issues using electronic tools.
• Performs electrical repairs.
• Assists with DOT inspections.
• Completes oil changes and greasing trucks/equipment.
• Repairs tires and replaces when necessary.
• Performs preventative maintenance to minimize downtime.
• Executes road service calls to ensure safe return of equipment.
• Directs other maintenance employees to assist with work orders.
• Other tasks as assigned by managers.

Job Purpose

In your role as a Shop Lead, you will perform repairs and maintenance on refuse vehicles and heavy machinery including, but not limited to: vehicle refuse bodies and control systems, air brake systems, suspension, steering, suspension, hydraulics, electrical, general engine work, HVAC components, drivetrain, and chassis components. This position has no direct reports.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Keeps up on maintenance of vehicles and equipment


• Performs engine repair and maintenance


• Performs welding and fabrication


• Scans trucks and troubleshoots mechanical issues using electronic tools


• Performs electrical repairs


• Assists with DOT inspections


• Completes oil changes and greasing trucks/equipment


• Repairs tires, including replacement when necessary


• Performs preventative maintenance on vehicles to enable minimal downtime


• Safely executes road service calls when necessary to ensure the equipment is being returned in a safe manner


• Troubleshoots emissions issues


• Actively solves problem


• Executes work orders and turns into Maintenance Supervisor for company records


• Directs other maintenance employees to assist with work orders


• Other tasks and duties as assigned by company managers

Qualifications

• Experience with maintenance to be performed on refuse trucks and heavy machinery


• ASE (Automotive Service Excellence) Certifications are a plus but not required


• Minimum two years experience as a heavy-duty technician


• MUST be able to perform basic inspections of the following: brakes, drivetrain, emissions, hydraulics, emissions, transmissions, general engine, steering and suspension
