Job summary

Priority Waste Resources LLC is seeking a Heavy Duty Machinery Mechanic to repair and maintain refuse vehicles and heavy machinery across our Michigan fleet. You will service engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, HVAC, and control systems, perform welding, diagnostics, and road service calls as needed, while ensuring DOT compliance and safe operation.

Candidates should bring at least two years of heavy-duty experience, with ASE certifications a plus, and a commitment to reliability, teamwork,

Qualifications

• Minimum two years experience as a heavy-duty technician.
• Experience with maintenance to be performed on refuse trucks and heavy machinery.
• ASE certifications are a plus but not required.
• Must be able to perform basic inspections of brakes, drivetrain, emissions, hydraulics, transmissions, general engine, steering and suspension.

Responsibilities

• Keeps up on maintenance of vehicles and equipment.
• Performs engine repair and maintenance.
• Performs welding and fabrication.
• Scans trucks and troubleshoots mechanical issues using electronic tools.
• Performs electrical repairs.
• Assists with DOT inspections.
• Completes oil changes and greasing trucks/equipment.
• Repairs tires, including replacement when necessary.
• Performs preventative maintenance on vehicles to enable minimal downtime.
• Safely executes road service calls when necessary to ensure the equipment is being returned in a safe manner.
• Troubleshoots emissions issues.
• Actively problem solves.
• Executes work orders and turns into Maintenance Supervisor for company records.

Job Purpose

In your role as a Heavy Duty Machinery Mechanic, you will perform repairs and maintenance on refuse vehicles and heavy machinery including, but not limited to: vehicle refuse bodies and control systems, air brake systems, suspension, steering, suspension, hydraulics, electrical, general engine work, HVAC components, drivetrain, and chassis components.

Qualifications

The successful candidate profile includes:

• Commercial Driver's License is a plus but not required
• Understands work orders and labor time standards
• Experience with maintenance to be performed on refuse trucks and heavy machinery
• ASE (Automotive Service Excellence) Certifications are a plus but not required
• Minimum two years experience as a heavy-duty technician
• Must be able to perform basic inspections of the following: brakes, drivetrain, emissions, hydraulics, emissions, transmissions, general engine, steering and suspension
