Job summary

Priority Waste Resources LLC seeks a Shop Lead in Romulus, MI to repair and maintain refuse vehicles and heavy machinery. You will handle vehicle systems, perform inspections, and support service operations across our facilities.

The role requires hands-on maintenance experience, a CDL is a plus, and ASE certifications are welcome but not required. You will guide maintenance staff and ensure safe, reliable fleet performance.

Qualifications

• Minimum two years experience as a heavy-duty technician.
• Experience with maintenance on refuse trucks and heavy machinery.
• CDL is a plus but not required.
• ASE certifications are a plus but not required.
• Ability to inspect brakes, drivetrain, emissions, hydraulics, transmissions, engine, steering and suspension.

Responsibilities

• Keeps up on maintenance of vehicles and equipment.
• Performs engine repair and maintenance.
• Performs welding and fabrication.
• Scans trucks and troubleshoots mechanical issues using electronic tools.
• Performs electrical repairs.
• Assists with DOT inspections.
• Completes oil changes and greasing trucks/equipment.
• Repairs tires, including replacement when necessary.
• Performs preventative maintenance on vehicles to enable minimal downtime.
• Safely executes road service calls when necessary to ensure equipment is returned safely.
• Troubleshoots emissions issues.
• Executes work orders and turns into Maintenance Supervisor for company records.
• Directs other maintenance employees to assist with work orders.

Job Purpose

In your role as a Shop Lead, you will perform repairs and maintenance on refuse vehicles and heavy machinery including, but not limited to: vehicle refuse bodies and control systems, air brake systems, suspension, steering, suspension, hydraulics, electrical, general engine work, HVAC components, drivetrain, and chassis components. This position has no direct reports.

Duties and Responsibilities

Duties include but are not limited to:

• Safely executes road service calls when necessary to ensure the equipment is being returned in a safe manner
• Troubleshoots emissions issues
• Actively solves problem
• Executes work orders and turns into Maintenance Supervisor for company records
• Directs other maintenance employees to assist with work orders
• Other tasks and duties as assigned by company managers

Qualifications

• Commercial Driver's License is a plus but not required
• Understands work orders and labor time standards
• Experience with maintenance to be performed on refuse trucks and heavy machinery
• ASE (Automotive Service Excellence) Certifications are a plus but not required
• Minimum two years experience as a heavy-duty technician
• Must be able to perform basic inspections of the following: brakes, drivetrain, emissions, hydraulics, emissions, transmissions, general engine, steering and suspension
