Job summary

Progresso in Dallas, TX seeks an experienced Lead of Meat Department to oversee daily operations, ensure product quality, and drive sales. You will manage inventory, train staff, and coordinate with vendors to maintain a fresh, appealing meat display.

The role requires strong leadership, knowledge of Mexican meat cuts, and a flexible schedule including weekends and holidays. Previous supervisory experience is essential.

Qualifications

• 3 years of minimum experience as a Lead of a Meat Department.
• Ability to read at an eighth-grade level.
• Basic mathematics: addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
• Knowledge of weight measurements.
• Ability to use the scale.
• Knowledge of Mexican meat cuts.
• Knowledge in preparation of carnitas, barbacoa and chicharrón.
• Flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays.
• Availability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Cut, trim, bone, tie and grind various meats.
• Wrap and weigh meat for dispatch to customers.
• Arrange meat in the display case.
• Estimate meat needs and place orders for supply.
• Maintain product and inventory control of the meat department.
• Receive, inspect and store meat; keep area clean and sanitary.
• Ensure correct pricing and signage for meat products.
• Guide and train new employees in meat prep and processes.
• Develop sales opportunities across departments and perform suggestive selling.
• Build professional customer relationships to increase sales.
• Daily quality inspections of meat products.
• Maintain a safe, organized work area and report hazards.
• Perform shift-leader tasks when required.
• Keep the department stocked and presentable.
