Job summary

ABS Bureau is seeking a Principal Surveyor to directly perform surveys in accordance with ABS Rules and international requirements at ports, stations, or field sites in the United States. The role includes coaching junior surveyors, planning activities, and maintaining client relationships with port authorities.

The position emphasizes leadership, safety, and adherence to engineering and marine practices, with responsibilities across planning, execution, and service delivery to meet business

Qualifications

• Engineering or physical science degree from a tertiary institution.
• Marine/nautical qualification with seagoing experience as a certificated ship officer.
• Typically 3 years of experience as a Senior Surveyor.

Responsibilities

• Directly execute and support safe and efficient survey activities to meet service delivery goals.
• Execute and support the Survey & Certification Core Process as an individual contributor and peer leader.
• Act as a professional specialist applying related rules and processes.
• Assist in planning, scheduling, and coordinating survey activities and reviewing survey reports.
• Suggest manpower planning needs for qualified survey staff based on projected business.
• Promote safety and safe working conditions.
• Maintain awareness of changes affecting customers and communicate to supervisory levels.
• Coach and develop junior surveyors through mentoring and feedback.
• Promote ABS services to customers through survey activities and interactions.
• Maintain relationships with Port State authorities.
