Job summary

ABS Group seeks a principal consultant to lead maritime risk engagements, delivering expert guidance on risk management, safety, and regulatory compliance for shipowners and ports.

You will plan and direct complex programs, supervise risk assessments, and develop actionable recommendations while mentoring junior staff. Regular travel (50%+) to client sites and internal stakeholders is expected as part of delivering quality solutions.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of relevant professional experience.
• Advanced degree or bachelor’s degree and equivalent experience.
• Professional certifications required.
• Strong knowledge of maritime regulatory frameworks, compliance requirements, and industry standards.
• Ability to mentor mid-level consultants and hone technical skills.
• Ability to lead client engagements and communicate with senior leadership.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage complex maritime consulting engagements involving risk management, safety, and regulatory compliance.
• Provide technical and strategic advice to shipowners, operators, ports, offshore organizations, and government stakeholders.
• Plan, direct, and oversee project execution with quality, timeliness, and budget control.
• Conduct risk assessments, hazard analyses, and compliance reviews.
• Develop practical recommendations and risk mitigation strategies.
• Lead audits, inspections, and incident investigations.
• Mentor junior consultants and coordinate cross-functional teams.
• Prepare high-quality technical reports and executive briefings for clients and leadership.
• Support business development and proposal activities.
