Lead Maintenance Technician

St. Simons Island, GA, US

8 days ago Requisition ID: 1077

At The King and Prince Beach & Golf Resort, excellent maintenance is an important part of excellent hospitality. From comfortable guest rooms and inviting public spaces to reliable equipment and safe facilities, our Engineering and Maintenance team helps ensure that every area of the resort is ready to welcome our guests.

We are seeking an experienced Lead Maintenance Technician to join our team during an exciting period of growth and investment in the resort. With an upcoming property renovation, this is an excellent opportunity for a skilled maintenance professional who wants to expand their technical knowledge, gain working-lead experience, and continue building a long-term career in facility maintenance.

This is a hands‑on position for someone who enjoys solving problems, sharing knowledge, and helping a team succeed. The Lead Maintenance Technician will coordinate daily priorities, provide technical guidance to other technicians, inspect completed work, and serve as a senior resource on assigned shifts. The position works closely with the Director of Engineering but is not a department management role.

What You Will Do

Diagnose and complete repairs involving HVAC, plumbing, electrical components, lighting, locks, appliances, carpentry, painting, commercial equipment, pools and spas, and other building systems within your training and authorization.

Perform preventive maintenance throughout guest rooms, public spaces, food and beverage areas, back‑of‑house locations, mechanical rooms, and exterior facilities.

Help organize daily work assignments and adjust priorities based on safety, guest impact, and operational needs.

Coach and support other maintenance technicians in troubleshooting, safe work practices, documentation, and resort standards.

Review completed work and help ensure repairs are safe, reliable, and finished to standard.

Respond promptly to leaks, equipment failures, temperature concerns, power disturbances, and other urgent property needs.

Communicate clearly with resort departments regarding repair status, expected timing, and necessary follow‑up.

Assist with contractor and vendor access, progress checks, and verification of completed work.

Maintain accurate work orders, equipment readings, preventive maintenance records, and repair documentation.

Protect resort property, maintain orderly work areas, and follow established safety procedures.

The resort’s upcoming renovation will give the successful candidate valuable exposure to property improvements, updated systems and equipment, vendor and contractor coordination, and the changing maintenance needs of an active resort environment.

For an experienced technician who is ready to take the next step, this position offers the opportunity to strengthen leadership skills, broaden technical experience, and become a trusted resource within the department. It is an ideal role for someone who is not yet seeking full management responsibility but is ready to lead through knowledge, reliability, and example.

What We Are Looking For

High school diploma or equivalent.

At least four years of progressively responsible, hands‑on experience in property, building, facilities, or related maintenance.

Working knowledge in at least two technical areas, such as HVAC, plumbing, electrical, refrigeration, carpentry, commercial equipment, or pool systems.

Strong troubleshooting skills and the judgment to recognize when a manager or licensed specialist is needed.

Ability to provide calm, respectful direction and technical support without relying on formal supervisory authority.

Basic computer and mobile‑device proficiency for work orders, email, logs, and maintenance documentation.

Reliable attendance, sound judgment, and the ability to respond effectively in time‑sensitive situations.

Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in an active, guest‑focused environment.

Hotel, resort, multifamily, healthcare, campus, or other complex‑property maintenance experience is preferred. Lead technician experience and relevant credentials, including EPA Section 608, Certified Pool Operator, HVAC, electrical, plumbing, or refrigeration certifications, are also preferred.

Schedule and Work Environment

The resort operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Availability may include early mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays, overtime, call‑back assignments, and participation in an on‑call rotation.

This position works indoors and outdoors in a coastal environment and requires frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, climbing, reaching, and working in mechanical or limited‑access areas. Candidates must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds independently and move heavier materials with appropriate assistance.
