The Maintenance Planner Supervisor is responsible for leading the planning and scheduling function for a large plant area, ensuring maintenance work is clearly defined, well-prioritized, and executed efficiently. This role will own workflow processes, flow diagrams, activity reporting, system optimization, and coordination of maintenance planning efforts to support safe, reliable, and predictable manufacturing operations. The position partners closely with Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, and EHS to improve work execution, standardize processes, and strengthen overall maintenance performance.
Maintenance Planner Supervisor Responsibilities:
- Lead maintenance planning and scheduling processes with a strong safety-first mindset, ensuring work is properly scoped, prioritized, and aligned with plant safety and operational needs.
- Develop and maintain workflow processes, process maps, and flow diagrams to improve maintenance execution, communication, and standard work.
- Train and coach teams on planning expectations, work order quality, system usage, and process discipline to improve consistency and accountability.
- Own and improve maintenance data integrity and reporting within SAP, CMMS, and related systems, ensuring accurate work order status, backlog tracking, and activity reporting.
- Partner with maintenance, operations, and leadership teams to optimize planning systems, streamline work execution, and support downtime reduction and reliability goals.
- Manage MRO and storeroom-related planning processes, including critical parts identification, material readiness, and coordination with inventory/storeroom teams.
- Review, organize, and prioritize maintenance requests, planned work, preventive maintenance, and Reliability Work Process (RWP) activities to support efficient resource utilization.
- Track KPIs, metrics, and maintenance activity trends to identify opportunities for improvement in planning, scheduling, and workflow effectiveness.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives by identifying gaps in planning processes, recommending solutions, and implementing better practices across the maintenance organization.
- Collaborate with supervisors and technical teams to ensure work is planned clearly, communicated effectively, and ready for execution before downtime occurs.
Maintenance Planner Supervisor Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree preferred in engineering, industrial technology, operations, or a related field, or equivalent related experience.
- Strong maintenance planning and scheduling experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Experience working with SAP, CMMS, or other maintenance management systems.
- Understanding of maintenance workflows, planning processes, PM systems, MRO/storeroom practices, and work order management.
- Ability to communicate effectively in manufacturing language and partner with both technical and non-technical teams.
- Experience training teams, improving processes, and driving consistency across maintenance operations.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
