Job summary

Ohio Department of Youth Services (DYS) seeks a Maintenance Repair Worker 3 to provide skilled facility repairs and act as a lead over youth workers in semi-skilled and skilled tasks. Responsibilities include carpentry, plumbing, welding, and preventive maintenance.

The role is full-time and on-site at Indian River Juvenile Correctional Facility in Massillon, OH. DYS offers comprehensive benefits, pre-service training, and a trauma-informed work environment to support staff and safer communities.

Qualifications

• Formal education in arithmetic that includes addition & subtraction and in reading, writing & speaking common English vocabulary.
• 12 mos. trg. or 12 mos. exp. in maintenance repair (electrical, plumbing, carpentry, masonry & use of tools).
• Valid commercial driver’s license if vehicle regulated by state law; prerequisite basic firefighter course in certain duties.

Responsibilities

• Perform semi-skilled and skilled maintenance repair work (carpentry, plumbing, welding).
• Inspect buildings and equipment and perform preventive maintenance.
• Provide lead work direction and training to youth workers where applicable.
• Work the general daytime schedule with possible weekend hours.
