Job summary

Alliant Energy is seeking an experienced Maintenance & Reliability professional to lead predictive and preventive maintenance programs for generating equipment, including turbines and large motors. You will plan inspections, assess test results, and guide teams in implementing reliability improvements.

The ideal candidate has extensive experience with rotating equipment, technical drawings, and cross-functional collaboration, in a collaborative, inclusive environment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree preferred in maintenance/reliability, engineering or related field.
  • Typically 10 years technical/professional experience.
  • 7+ years with generating equipment maintenance and large rotating equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Identify, plan, and implement predictive and preventive maintenance programs.
  • Develop equipment inspection plans and predictive maintenance programs.
  • Schedule preventive and corrective maintenance activities.
  • Recommend equipment replacements and prepare cost estimates for repairs or system improvements.
  • Develop or recommend changes to equipment standards.
  • Implement reliability improvement programs.
  • Perform complex asset reliability studies and analysis.
  • Recommend design modifications for future projects.
  • Assist personnel with implementing predictive and preventive maintenance.
  • Provide technical guidance to less experienced maintenance staff.
  • Support maintenance and operations at generating facilities.
  • Maintain maintenance work backlog and equipment databases.
  • Analyze test results and approve findings by others.
  • Provide recommendations based on test data.
  • Offer technical assistance during emergencies by data analysis and action guidance.
  • Collaborate with engineering to develop equipment standards.
  • Identify faults and propose solutions.
  • Lead teams reviewing replacement recommendations.
  • Perform other duties supporting Alliant Energy's values.

Job description

  • Identify, plan, and implement predictive and preventive maintenance programs
  • Develop equipment inspection plans and predictive maintenance programs
  • Schedule preventive and corrective maintenance activities
  • Recommend equipment replacements and prepare cost estimates for repairs or system improvements
  • Develop or recommend changes to equipment standards
  • Implement generating reliability improvement programs
  • Perform complex asset reliability studies and analysis
  • Recommend generating equipment and system design modifications for future projects
  • Assist personnel with implementing and interpreting predictive and preventive maintenance programs
  • Provide technical support and guidance to less experienced maintenance and reliability coordinators
  • Support maintenance and operations staff at generating facilities
  • Maintain accurate maintenance work backlog and generating equipment databases
  • Analyze predictive maintenance test results and review or authorize results of less experienced employees
  • Provide recommendations based on test results
  • Provide technical assistance during emergencies by analyzing test data and recommending courses of action
  • Work with engineering personnel to develop equipment standards incorporating predictive and preventive maintenance practices
  • Fault-find and propose solutions to plant issues
  • Lead teams reviewing equipment replacement recommendations
  • Perform other duties supporting Alliant Energy's values and purpose
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Maintenance and Reliability, Computer Science, Engineering or related area preferred
  • 10 years of technical and/or professional experience
  • 7 years of direct working knowledge of generating equipment and maintenance work methods, and large rotating equipment maintenance
  • Effective interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Ability to use computer software programs, including e-mail, word processing, spreadsheet, and project management software
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative and inclusive work environment
  • Ability to read and understand technical drawings and manuals
  • Advanced knowledge of maintenance strategies, including predictive maintenance, preventative maintenance, and reliability-centered maintenance preferred
  • Advanced knowledge of generating equipment such as turbines, generators, boilers, fans, pumps, and large motors preferred
  • Advanced knowledge of electrical systems, mechanical systems, and power production systems preferred
  • Advanced knowledge and/or certifications in predictive maintenance technologies such as acoustic analysis, vibration analysis, oil analysis, and infrared analysis preferred
  • Advanced knowledge of root cause failure analysis preferred
  • Successful completion of a background check and drug screen where applicable
