Job summary

Bank of America is seeking a hands-on z/OS Mainframe Engineer to lead the operation, modernization, and reliability of the z/OS platform from Jersey City. You will resolve complex system issues and guide infrastructure partners to deliver secure, resilient services.

The role requires deep mainframe expertise, experience with RACF, z/OSMF, SMP/E, and collaboration across technical teams to optimize performance and ensure stability. Strong documentation is essential.

Qualifications

Experience with IBM z/OS operating system and RACF security.
Hands-on support for large-scale, globally deployed z/OS environments.
Develop and enhance tools and methodologies for enterprise z/OS.
Strong problem determination and timely resolution skills.
Knowledge of z/Enterprise hardware and data center facilities.
Experience installing z/OS software using z/OSMF and SMP/E.
Proficiency with IBM support resources and IBM mainframe tools.

Responsibilities

Provide technical leadership for operation, modernization, and reliability of z/OS platform.
Drive resolution of system issues and coordinate with infrastructure partners.
Design, develop, and implement systems engineering solutions with limited oversight.
Perform root-cause analysis and implement durable fixes for z/OS issues.
Collaborate with networking, storage, security, and application teams.
Create and maintain system documentation and configurations.
