Job summary

MetLife is seeking a highly skilled Lead Mainframe CICS/MQ Site Reliability Engineer to join our Global Technology team. You will architect, design, and direct modernization of mainframe systems to ensure reliability, scalability, and alignment with business goals.

You will lead cross-functional squads, guide incident resolution, and implement strategic IT transformation across IBM z/OS, CICS, and MQ environments, leveraging best practices and emerging technologies.

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field.
7+ years in mainframe engineering with service delivery/architecture.
Expertise in IBM z/OS, COBOL, CICS, and z/OS Connect.
Proven experience leading modernization projects.
Strong communication and stakeholder management.

Responsibilities

Lead architecture, design, and implementation of mainframe solutions.
Provide technical leadership to mainframe teams and modernization efforts.
Collaborate with stakeholders to identify requirements and deliver mainframe solutions.
Help establish intake/change processes and perform performance tuning.
Evaluate new technologies to drive modernization of mainframe platforms.
Develop governance and maintain architectural roadmaps and blueprints.
Ensure high availability, security, and performance of mainframe apps.
Participate in ITSM processes and incident resolution.
Resolve CICS/MQ related incidents during troubleshooting.
Partner with enterprise architects on enterprise-wide strategies.
