Job summary

Progress Rail, a Caterpillar company in Winston-Salem, NC, is seeking a focused machinist for 1st shift. You will set up, operate, and adjust CNC equipment within a supervised system, lead the team in machining tasks, and ensure on-time production to meet customer requirements.

Responsibilities include conducting standard work audits, supporting continuous improvement initiatives, and maintaining machine performance.

Qualifications

• PC literate with blueprint reading and geometry/trigonometry experience.
• High machining aptitude and strong problem solving skills.
• Ability to lead a team in a production environment.
• Self-starter with initiative and ability to interpret technical instructions.
• Work near moving parts and operate CNC/manual machines as required.

Responsibilities

• Set up, operate and adjust machines in a computer controlled manufacturing system.
• Lead team in machining operations and escalate issues when needed.
• Perform standard work audits and participate in 5S and safety initiatives.
• Assist production supervisor in scheduling manufacturing cells.
• Review machine analytics and contribute to continuous improvement.
• Meet daily/weekly production targets and maintain quality.
• Perform preventive maintenance and basic troubleshooting.
• Transport heavy loads with crane or pallet jack as required.
• Cross train and ensure timely operator training.
