Job summary

Caterpillar Inc. in East Peoria, IL is seeking a Machinist to operate, set up and adjust automatic lathes to perform various machining operations on miscellaneous parts. Key duties include executing operations on N/C lathes and manually operating vertical turret lathes.

Responsibilities also cover adjusting single spindle automatic cutoff machines for cutoff and chamfer work, while applying safe working methods. Strong safety and teamwork are essential.

Qualifications

• Technical school or equal educational background in mechanical or similar discipline.
• Previous CNC/machine shop experience.
• Good communication skills and strong commitment to safety and teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Execute machining operations on N/C lathes to perform complex combinations of machine of machining operations or limited combination of machining operations close to tolerance.
• Manually operate vertical turret lathes.
• Adjust single spindle automatic cutoff machines to perform cutoff and/or chamfer operations on barstock, tubing, etc.
• Apply safe working methods.
