Role Description The Lead Low Voltage Technician is a full-time, on-site role based in Austin, TX. This role is responsible for leading the installation, decommissioning, and troubleshooting of low voltage systems, including A/V, network cabling, and related infrastructure. Day-to-day tasks include reading and interpreting plans, pulling and terminating cables, mounting and setting up equipment, performing testing and certification, and ensuring work meets safety and quality standards. The Lead Low Voltage Technician coordinates small teams in the field, assigns tasks, monitors progress, and communicates with project managers and clients about timelines, issues, and site conditions. The role also involves maintaining tools and inventory, documenting work performed, and supporting the safe removal and handling of equipment and materials.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated expertise in low voltage systems, including installation, termination, and testing of network, A/V, and related cabling.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and job plans, and to translate them into clear tasks for team members.
  • Experience leading field crews, coordinating daily work, and promoting safe practices on job sites.
  • Strong problem-solving skills for diagnosing and resolving issues with cabling, connectivity, and equipment performance.
  • Comfort with physical work, including lifting, climbing ladders, working in tight spaces, and following safety protocols.
  • Effective communication skills for interacting with teammates, supervisors, and clients, both verbally and in writing.
  • Prior experience in commercial low voltage, A/V, or IT installation environments; relevant certifications (e.g., low voltage, cabling, safety) are a plus.
  • Reliable transportation, punctuality, and the ability to work standard full-time schedules and occasional extended hours as needed.
