Job summary

Stake Center Locating is seeking a Lead Locate Technician to oversee field locate operations and mentor technicians while ensuring safety compliance and high quality workmanship.

You will supervise task assignments, manage tickets, monitor equipment and vehicles, and coordinate with customers to resolve inquiries. The role emphasizes continuous learning about locating technology to deliver precise results, with relocation support and competitive benefits where offered.

Qualifications

• Must be at least eighteen years of age.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Clean background check for access to restricted and/or controlled areas.
• Valid driver license with acceptable driving record.
• Ability to pass random drug screens and to remain drug free.
• Ability to locate.
• Ability to effectively perform a PDR or damage investigation.
• Ability to interact with all involved, the public, customers, contractors, utility representatives and all those under their direction.
• Excellent communication skills at all levels.

Responsibilities

• Quality Assurance: perform damage investigations.
• Quality Assurance: conduct audits (including Field Safety Audits).
• Quality Assurance: execute ride-alongs with crew members.
• Team Management: manage ticket distribution.
• Team Management: upkeep of vehicles (issues and maintenance).
• Team Management: manage equipment and supplies (including issues and distribution).
• Team Management: manage recruitment to team.
• Provide mentorship and guidance to locate technicians.
• Foster positivity and safety among crew members.
• Help with difficult locates.
• Conduct crew meetings and reporting.
• Technical Expertise: continuously learn about equipment and technology.
• Customer Interaction: address concerns or inquiries from customers.
• Customer Interaction: maintain positive relationships with customers through effective communication.
• Safety Compliance: report and investigate accidents/injuries.
