Job summary

Stake Center Locating is seeking a Lead Locate Technician to supervise and organize locate technicians, ensuring precise underground utility identification. The role focuses on project management, mentoring the team, and enforcing safety standards.

The candidate will lead QA activities, manage workflow and equipment, and maintain strong customer communication while driving safety and efficiency on jobsites.

Qualifications

• Must be at least eighteen years of age.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Clean background check for access to restricted and/or controlled areas.
• Valid driver license with acceptable driving record.
• Ability to pass random drug screens and to remain drug free.
• Ability to locate.
• Ability to effectively perform a PDR or damage investigation.
• Ability to interact with all involved, the public, customers, contractors, utility representatives and all those under their direction.
• Excellent communication skills at all levels.

Responsibilities

• Quality Assurance: Perform damage investigations, conduct audits (including Field Safety Audits), execute ride-alongs with crew members.
• Team Management: Manage ticket distribution, upkeep of vehicles and equipment, recruit to team.
• Provide mentorship and guidance to locate technicians, foster safety and positivity, help with difficult locates, conduct crew meetings and reporting.
• Technical Expertise: Continuously learn about equipment and technology.
• Customer Interaction: Address concerns or inquiries from customers, maintain positive relationships through effective communication.
• Safety Compliance: Report and investigate accidents/injuries, conduct SOP directives.
