Job summary

Stake Center Locating is seeking a Lead Locate Technician to guide a team of locate technicians, oversee field tasks, and ensure precise identification of underground utilities. You will manage projects, mentor staff, and enforce safety standards on-site.

The ideal candidate brings hands-on experience in locating, strong communication, and the ability to coordinate crew activities, with a commitment to safety, quality, and customer service across complex locates.

Qualifications

• Must be at least eighteen years old.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Clean background check for access to restricted and/or controlled areas.
• Valid driver license with acceptable driving record.
• Ability to pass random drug screens and to remain drug free.
• Ability to locate.
• Ability to effectively perform a PDR or damage investigation.
• Ability to interact with all involved, the public, customers, contractors, utility representatives and all those under their direction.
• Excellent communication skills at all levels.

Responsibilities

• Lead locate technicians, aid, supervise, and organize tasks to guarantee precise identification of underground utilities.
• A pivotal role in project management, mentoring team members, and ensuring adherence to safety standards.
• Quality Assurance: perform damage investigations and audits, conduct ride-alongs with crew members.
• Manage ticket distribution, upkeep of vehicles, equipment, and supplies, and recruitment to the team.
• Provide mentorship and guidance to locate technicians; foster safety and positivity among crew members.
• Conduct crew meetings and reporting; continuously learn about equipment and technology.
• Address customer concerns or inquiries and maintain positive relationships with customers.
