Job summary

The YMCA of Metropolitan Denver in Arvada, CO is seeking an experienced Head Lifeguard to lead the aquatics team, supervise on-deck operations, and maintain a safe, welcoming environment for members and guests. As Head Guard you will train and mentor staff, enforce safety policies, and coordinate with the Aquatics Manager to deliver world-class service while upholding YMCA core values.

This full-time role requires current lifeguard certification (YMCA/Red Cross or equivalent) and CPR/First Aid,

Qualifications

• Minimum age of 18 years.
• Current lifeguard certification (YMCA, Red Cross, or equivalent).
• Current CPR/AED and First Aid certification.
• Previous lifeguarding experience.
• Strong communication skills.
• Ability to remain calm and make sound decisions in emergency situations.
• Commitment to YMCA values: Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility.
• Ability to pass a background check.

Responsibilities

• Lead and support a team of lifeguards with energy and accountability.
• Ensure a safe aquatic environment for all swimmers.
• Jump into action when needed (yes, literally).
• Help train, coach, and mentor staff.
• Keep the pool deck positive, professional, and fun.
