Job summary

JCC Denver in Denver, CO is seeking a Head Lifeguard to supervise the Aquatics Center, monitor swimmer safety, enforce pool rules, and respond to emergencies using ARC guidelines. Under the Aquatics Manager, you will lead staff, coordinate daily operations, perform safety checks, document incidents, and ensure a clean, compliant aquatic environment.

Qualifications

• High school education or comparable work experience.
• Minimum of one year of lifeguard experience.
• Current and valid CPR & First Aid certification.
• Valid Lifeguard certification from the American Red Cross.
• Effective leadership skills and a strong work ethic.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Ability to work varied hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Ability to troubleshoot and anticipate problems.
• Adaptable and calm under stress.

Responsibilities

• Ensure safety of all swimmers by preventative measures and maintenance; add chemicals per safety guidelines.
• Enforce facility rules and oversee staff performance.
• Coordinate with Aquatics Director to ensure smooth operation of all aquatic activities.
• Oversee emergencies, provide first aid/CPR, report incidents to Aquatics Director.
• Conduct maintenance tasks: adjust feeders, pump checks, pool cleaning, readings logging.
• Maintain professional appearance and timely attendance.
• Ensure the aquatic area is safe, clean and orderly.
• Handle opening/closing duties and routine chores.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
